a presente Declaración Universal dos Dereitos da Persoa como ideal común polo que tódolos pobos e nacións se deben esforzar, para que tanto os individuos coma as institucións, inspirándose constantemente nela, promovan, mediante o ensino e a educación, o respecto a estes dereitos e liberdades, e aseguren, por medidas progresivas de carácter nacional e internacional, o seu recoñecemento e aplicación universais e efectivos, tanto entre os pobos dos estados membros coma entre os dos territorios colocados baixo a súa xurisdicción.

this Universal Declaration of Human Rights as a common standard of achievement for all peoples and all nations, to the end that every individual and every organ of society, keeping this Declaration constantly in mind, shall strive by teaching and education to promote respect for these rights and freedoms and by progressive measures, national and international, to secure their universal and effective recognition and observance, both among the peoples of Member States themselves and among the peoples of territories under their jurisdiction.

Tódolos seres humanos nacen libres e iguais en dignidade e dereitos e, dotados como están de razón e conciencia, díbense comportar fraternalmente uns cos outros.

All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.

Ademais, non se fará ningunha distinción baseado na condición política, xurídica ou internacional do país ou territoiro da xurisdicción do cal dependa unha persoa, tanto se se trata dun país independente coma dun territorio baixo administración fiduciaria, non autónomo ou sometido a calquera outra limitación de soberanía.

Furthermore, no distinction shall be made on the basis of the political, jurisdictional or international status of the country or territory to which a person belongs, whether it be independent, trust, non-self-governing or under any other limitation of sovereignty.

Todo individuo ten dereito á vida, á liberdade e á seguridade da súa persoa.

Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person.

Ninguín estará sometido á escravitude nin a servidume; a escravitude e a trata de escravos está prohibida en tódalas súas maneiras.

No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms.

Ninguín será sometido a torturas nin a penas ou tratos crueis, inhumanos e aldraxantes.

No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.

Todo ser humano ten dereito, en tódalas partes, ó reconecemento da súa persoalidade.

Everyone has the right to recognition everywhere as a person before the law.

Todos son iguais perante a lei e teñen, sen distincin, dereito á igual protección da lei. Todos teñen dereito á igual protección contra todo acto discriminatorio que infrinxa esta Declaración e contra toda provocación a tal acto.

All are equal before the law and are entitled without any discrimination to equal protection of the law. All are entitled to equal protection against any discrimination in violation of this Declaration and against any incitement to such discrimination.

Toda persoa ten dereito a un recurso efectivo, perante os tribunais nacionais competentes, que a ampare contra os actos que violen os seus dereitos fundamentais recoñecidos pola constitución ou pola lei.

Everyone has the right to an effective remedy by the competent national tribunals for acts violating the fundamental rights granted him by the constitution or by law.

Ninguín poderá ser arbitrariamente detido, preso nin desterrado.

No one shall be subjected to arbitrary arrest, detention or exile.

Toda persoa ten dereito, en condicións de plena igualdade, a ser oída publicamente e con xustiza por un tribunal independente e imparcial, para determinar os seus dereitos e obrigas ou para o exame de calquera acusación contra ela en materia penal.

Everyone is entitled in full equality to a fair and public hearing by an independent and impartial tribunal, in the determination of his rights and obligations and of any criminal charge against him.

1. Toda persoa acusada de delicto ten o dereito a que se presuma a súa inocencia mentres non se probe a súa culpabilidade, conforme á lei e en xuízo público no que se lle asegurasen tódalas garantías precisas para a súa defensa.
2. Ninguín será condenado por actos ou omisións que no momento de se cometer non fosen delictivos segundo o dereito nacional ou internacional. Tampouco se imporá pena máis grave que a aplicable no momento de cometer o delicto.

1. Everyone charged with a penal offence has the right to be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law in a public trial at which he has had all the guarantees necessary for his defence.
   
   
2. No one shall be held guilty of any penal offence on account of any act or omission which did not constitute a penal offence, under national or international law, at the time when it was committed. Nor shall a heavier penalty be imposed than the one that was applicable at the time the penal offence was committed.

Ninguín será obxecto de inxerencias arbitrarias na súa vida privada, a súa familia, o seu domicilio ou a súa correspondencia, nin de ataques á súa honra ou á súa reputación. Toda persoa ten dereito á protección da lei contra estas inxerencias ou ataques.

No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence, nor to attacks upon his honour and reputation. Everyone has the right to the protection of the law against such interference or attacks.

1. Toda persoa ten dereito a circular libremente e a elixir a súa residencia no territorio dun estado.
2. Toda persoa ten dereito a saír de calquera país, incluso do propio, e a voltar ó seu país.

1. Everyone has the right to freedom of movement and residence within the borders of each State.
2. Everyone has the right to leave any country, including his own, and to return to his country.

1. En caso de persecución, toda persoa ten dereito a buscar asilo, e a disfrutar del, en calquera país.
2. Este dereito non poderá ser invocado contra unha acción xudicial realmente orixinada por delictos comúns ou por actos opostos ós propósitos e principios das Nacións Unidas.

1. Everyone has the right to seek and to enjoy in other countries asylum from persecution.
2. This right may not be invoked in the case of prosecutions genuinely arising from non-political crimes or from acts contrary to the purposes and principles of the United Nations.

1. Toda persoa ten dereito a unha nacionalidade.
2. Ninguín será privado arbitrariamente da súa nacionalidade nin do dereito a cambiar de nacionalidade.

1. Everyone has the right to a nationality.
2. No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his nationality nor denied the right to change his nationality.

1. Os homes e as mulleres, a partir da idade núbil, teñen dereito, sen ningunha restricción por motivos de raza, nacionalidade ou relixión, a casar e fundar unha familia; disfrutarán de iguais dereitos en canto ó matrimonio, durante o matrimonio e no caso de disolución do matrimonio.
2. Só mediante libre e pleno consentimento dos futuros cónxuxes se poderá contraer o matrimonio.
3. A familia é o elemento natural e fundamental da sociedade e ten dereito á protección da sociedade e do estado.

1. Men and women of full age, without any limitation due to race, nationality or religion, have the right to marry and to found a family. They are entitled to equal rights as to marriage, during marriage and at its dissolution.
   
   
   
2. Marriage shall be entered into only with the free and full consent of the intending spouses.
3. The family is the natural and fundamental group unit of society and is entitled to protection by society and the State.

2. Ninguín será privado arbitrariamente da súa propiedade.

1. Everyone has the right to own property alone as well as in association with others.
2. No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his property.

Toda persoa ten dereito á liberdade de pensamento, de conciencia e de relixión; este dereito inclúe a liberdade de cambiar de relixión ou de crenza, así como a liberdade de manifestar a súa relixión ou a súa crenza, individual e colectivamente, tanto en público coma en privado, polo ensino, a práctica, o culto e a observancia.

Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance.

Todo individuo ten dereito á liberdade de opinión e de expresión; este dereito inclúe o de non ser molestado por mor das súas opinións, o de investigar e recibir informacións e opinións e o de difundilas, sen limitación de fronteiras, por calquera medio de expresión.

Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.

1. Toda persoa ten dereito á liberdade de reunión e de asociación pacíficas.
2. Ninguín poderá ser obrigado a pertencer a unha asociación.

1. Everyone has the right to freedom of peaceful assembly and association.
2. No one may be compelled to belong to an association.

1. Toda persoa ten dereito a participar no goberno do seu país, directamente ou por medio de representantes libremente escollidos.
2. Toda persoa ten dereito de acceso, en condicións de igualdade, ás funcións públicas do seu país.
3. A vontade do pobo ó a base da autoridade do poder público; esta vontade expresarase mediante eleccións auténticas que se haberán de celebrar periodicamente, por sufraxio universal e igual e por voto secreto ou outro procedemento equivalente que garanta a liberdade de voto.

1. Everyone has the right to take part in the government of his country, directly or through freely chosen representatives.
2. Everyone has the right to equal access to public service in his country.
3. The will of the people shall be the basis of the authority of government; this will shall be expressed in periodic and genuine elections which shall be by universal and equal suffrage and shall be held by secret vote or by equivalent free voting procedures.

Toda persoa, como membro da sociedade, ten dereito á seguridade social e a obter, mediante o esforzo nacional e a cooperación internacional, habida conta da organización e os recursos de cada estado, a satisfacción dos dereitos económicos, sociais e culturais indispensables á súa dignidade e ó libre desenvolvemento da súa personalidade.

Everyone, as a member of society, has the right to social security and is entitled to realization, through national effort and international co-operation and in accordance with the organization and resources of each State, of the economic, social and cultural rights indispensable for his dignity and the free development of his personality.

1. Toda persoa ten dereito ó traballo, á libre elección do seu traballo, a condicións equitativas e satisfactorias de traballo e á protección contra o desemprego.
2. Toda persoa ten dereito, sen ningunha discrminación, a igual salario por igual traballo.
3. Toda persoa que traballa ten dereito a unha remuneración equitativa e satisfactoria, que lle asegure, así como á súa familia, unha existencia conforme á dignidade humana e que será completada, en caso necesario, por calquera outro medio de protección social.
4. Toda persoa ten dereito a fundar sindicatos e a sindicarse para a defensa dos seus intereses.

1. Everyone has the right to work, to free choice of employment, to just and favourable conditions of work and to protection against unemployment.
2. Everyone, without any discrimination, has the right to equal pay for equal work.
3. Everyone who works has the right to just and favourable remuneration ensuring for himself and his family an existence worthy of human dignity, and supplemented, if necessary, by other means of social protection.
   
   
4. Everyone has the right to form and to join trade unions for the protection of his interests.

Toda persoa ten dereito ó descanso, ó gozo do tempo libre, a unha limitación razoable da duración do traballo e a vacacións periódicas pagadas.

Everyone has the right to rest and leisure, including reasonable limitation of working hours and periodic holidays with pay.

1. Toda persoa ten dereito a un nivel de vida axeitado que lle asegure, así como á súa familia, a saúde e o benestar, e en especial a alimentación, o vestido, a vivenda, a asistencia médica e os servicios sociais precisos; ten tamén dereito ós seguros en caso de desemprego, enfermidade, invalidez, viúvez e vellez ou outros casos de perda dos seus medios de subsistencia por circunstancias independentes da súa vontade.
2. A maternidade e a infancia teñen dereito a coidados e asistencia especiais. Tódolos nenos e nenas, nacidos de matrimonio ou fóra do matrimonio, teñen dereito á mesma protección social.

1. Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.
   
   
2. Motherhood and childhood are entitled to special care and assistance. All children, whether born in or out of wedlock, shall enjoy the same social protection.

1. Toda persoa ten dereito á educación. A educación debe ser de balde, polo menos no que atinxe á instrucción elemental e fundamental. A instrucción elemental será obrigatoria. A instrucción técnica e profesional haberá de ser xeneralizada; o acceso ós estudios superiores será igual para todos, en función dos méritos respectivos.
2. A educación terá como obxectivo o pleno desenvolvemento da personalidade humana e o fortalecemento do respecto ós dereitos da persoa e ás liberdades fundamentais; favorecerá a comprensión, a tolerancia e a amizade entre as nacións e tódolos grupos étnicos ou relixiosos; promoverá o desenvolvemento das actividades das Nacións Unidas para o mantemento da paz.
3. Os pais teñen dereito preferente a escoller o tipo de educación que se haberá de dar ós seus fillos.

1. Everyone has the right to education. Education shall be free, at least in the elementary and fundamental stages. Elementary education shall be compulsory. Technical and professional education shall be made generally available and higher education shall be equally accessible to all on the basis of merit.
2. Education shall be directed to the full development of the human personality and to the strengthening of respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms. It shall promote understanding, tolerance and friendship among all nations, racial or religious groups, and shall further the activities of the United Nations for the maintenance of peace.
   
   
3. Parents have a prior right to choose the kind of education that shall be given to their children.

1. Toda persoa ten dereito a tomar parte libremente na vida cultural da comunidade, a gozar das artes e a participar no progreso científico e nos beneficios que del resulten.
2. Toda persoa ten dereito á protección dos intereses morais e materiais que lle correspondan por razóns das produccións científicas, literarias ou artísticas das que sexa autor.

1. Everyone has the right freely to participate in the cultural life of the community, to enjoy the arts and to share in scientific advancement and its benefits.
2. Everyone has the right to the protection of the moral and material interests resulting from any scientific, literary or artistic production of which he is the author.

Toda persoa ten dereito a que se estableza unha orde social e internacional na que os dereitos e liberdades proclamados nesta Declaración se fagan plenamente efectivos.

Everyone is entitled to a social and international order in which the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration can be fully realized.

1. Toda persoa ten deberes respecto á comunidade, xa que só nela pode desenvolver libre e plenamente a súa personalidade.
2. No exercicio dos seus dereitos e no disfrute das súas liberdades, toda persoa estará soamente suxeita ás limitacións establecidas pola lei co único fin de asegurar o recoñecemento e o respecto dos dereitos e liberdades dos demais, e de satisfacer as xustas esixencias da moral, da orde pública e do benestar xeral nunha sociedade democrática.
3. Estes dereitos e liberdades non poderán ser, en ningún caso, exercidos en oposición ós propósitos e principios das Nacións Unidas.

1. Everyone has duties to the community in which alone the free and full development of his personality is possible.
   
   
2. In the exercise of his rights and freedoms, everyone shall be subject only to such limitations as are determined by law solely for the purpose of securing due recognition and respect for the rights and freedoms of others and of meeting the just requirements of morality, public order and the general welfare in a democratic society.
   
   
3. These rights and freedoms may in no case be exercised contrary to the purposes and principles of the United Nations.

Nada na presente Declaración poderá ser interpretado no sentido de que confire algún dereito ó estado, a un grupo ou a unha persoa, para emprender e desenvolver actividades ou realizar actos tendentes á supresión de calquera dos dereitos e liberdades proclamadas nesta Declaración.

Nothing in this Declaration may be interpreted as implying for any State, group or person any right to engage in any activity or to perform any act aimed at the destruction of any of the rights and freedoms set forth herein.
