Lorna kee talaash The search for Lorna

Daisy Hamilton ek khufiya jaasoos thee.

Daisy Hamilton was a Private Detective.

Vah tees saal kee thee aur pichhle do saal se jaasoos thee.

She was thirty years old and had been a detective for the past two years.

Roz subah vah apne daftar jaatee phon kaa intazaar kartee yaa uskee sevaaen chaah rahe graahakon ke liye darvaazaa kholtee.

Every morning she went to her office to wait for phone calls or open the door to clients needing her services.

Daisy abhee bahut mashhoor naheen hui thee lekin sthaaneey akhbaar men prakashit uske vigyaapan ko dekh log use kabhi-kabhaar phon kar lete the.

Daisy wasn't very well known yet but occasionally people telephoned her from the advertisement she had put in the local newspaper.

Ek subhah lagbhag gyaarah baje kisee ne uske daftar kaa darvaazaa khatkhataayaa.

One morning at about eleven o'clock someone knocked on her office door.

vahan ek motee mahila thee jo gardan par phar lapete thee.

It was a fat lady who wore a fur around her neck.

"Hello, kyaa main aapkee madad kar saktee hoon?" Daisy ne mahilaa se poochhaa. "Kripyaa, aaie aur baithie."

"Hello, can I help you?" Daisy asked the lady. "Please come and sit down."

"Jee haan, vaakaee! Mujhe aapkee madad kee behad zaroorat hai."

"Oh yes indeed! I need your help desperately.

"Lorna, meree pyaaree gum ho gaee hai. Samajh men naheen aataa ki main kyaa karoon."

Lorna, my little one has disappeared. I don't know what to do."

Daisy ne motee mahilaa ko ek cup instant coffee pilai aur byore kaa intazaar karne lagee.

Daisy offered the fat lady a cup of instant coffee and awaited the details.

Motee mahila dhamm se baith gaee aur usne laal chamRe kaa apnaa bhaaree bharkam handbag Daisy kee mez par rakh diyaa.

The fat lady sat down heavily and put her large red leather handbag on Daisy's desk.

"Kripyaa mujhe sab kuchh bataaye - shreematee ...?"

"Please tell me everything-Mrs. ...?"

"Meraa naam Edwina Humphries hai. Mujhe aashankaa hai ki ve mujhase phirautee maangenge - mujhe aashankaa hai ki lorna kaa apharan kiyaa gayaa hai!"

"Mrs. Edwina Humphries is my name. I am afraid they will ask me for money- I'm afraid Lorna has been kidnapped!'

"Bahut buraa huaa, shreematee Humphries. Kya shree Hamphreez ka bhee khyaal hai ki Lorna kaa apharan kiyaa gayaa hai?"

"That's terrible, Mrs. Humphries. Does Mr. Humphries, too, think Lorna has been kidnapped?'

"Mere pati ko koee ruchi naheen ki Lorna kaa apharan kiyaa gayaa hai yaa naheen!"

"My husband is not interested if Lorna has been kidnapped or not!"

"Shreematee Humphries, sachchee? Lekin, kyaa aapke pati Lorna ke sage pitaa hain?"

"Really, Mrs. Humphries? But is your husband Lorna's real father?"

"main aapkaa matlab samjhee naheen.  Lorna ko hamne milkar khareeda thaa," shreematee Humphries ne javaab diyaa.

"I don't know what you mean. We bought Lorna together," replied Mrs. Humphries.

"Khareeda thaa... shreematee Humphries, aap jaantee hain ki vah gair kaanoonee hai."

"You bought...........Mrs. Humphries, that's illegal, you know."

"Naa, naheen hai, Bhaarat men naheen hai!"

"No it isn't, not in India!"

"aapne Lorna ko Bhaarat men khareeda thaa?"

"You bought Lorna in India?"

"Haan, vaakaee. Aur aap jaantee hain ki vah mujhe hameshaa behtereen shobat detee hai."

Yes indeed! And she always keeps me great company, you know."

Shreematee Humphries ne rumaal nikaalne ke liye apnaa bare chamre ka bag kholaa.

"Mrs. Humphries opened her huge leather bag to pull out a handkerchief.

Dari hui Daisy ne ek rengte hue jeev ko us bag se baahar nikalte dekhaa.

With horror Daisy saw a wiggling creature come out of the bag.

"Shreematee Humphries - use door hataaie, fauran!" Daisy cheekhee.

"Mrs. Humphries- move that away immediately!" screamed Daisy.

"Kyaa? Are Lorna - aakhirkar maine tujhe dhoondh hee liyaa!" shreematee Humphries ne kahaa. "Natkhat bachchee, too mere bag men chhip gaee thee!"

"What? Oh Lorna- l've found you at last!" said Mrs.

Humphries."You hid in my bag you naughty girl!"

"Shreematee Humphries, yah Lorna hai?"

"Mrs. Humphries. This is Lorna?"

"Haan, hamaaree Bangaalee dariya ki  saanpin.

Yes, our Bengali swamp snake.

Oh, meree pyaaree aapko dhanyavaad. Naa, main naheen samajhtee ki mujhe aapkee sevaaon kee aur aage zaroorat hai."

Oh thank you my dear. No, I don't think I need your services any longer!"

Jab Daisy ne shreematee Humphries ke jane ke baad darvaaza band kiyaa. Usne apne vigyaapan men yah likhane kaa man hee man faislaa kiyaa: na jaanvar, na saanp.

As Daisy shut the door after Mrs. Humphries. she made a mental note to write in the advertisement: no animals, no snakes.
