WITH A VERY BIG THANK YOU FROM THE LONWEB TEAM!
Kejutan The surprise

Daisy mengangkat telepon dan berusaha menghubungi kliennya lagi.

Daisy picked up the telephone and tried to get through to her client again.

Kliennya, Frank Baccini, yang mempunyai sebuah gudang barang-barang elektronik belum membayar pekerjaannya selama dua hari.

Her client, a certain Frank Baccini, who had a warehouse of electrical goods, had not paid for her two days' work.

Daisy had managed to discover where Mr. Baccini's dishonest partner was now living and was anxiously expecting her cheque.

Daisy was beginning to think that her client was dishonest too.

A very bored "Hello, can I help you?" was the reply at the other end.

It was a young woman's voice, Frank Baccini's secretary.

“Bisa bicara dengan Pak Baccini?’

"I'd like to speak to Mr. Baccini, please."

“Maaf, Pak Baccini sedang keluar kota.”

"Sorry, Mr. Baccini is out of town."

“Kapan beliau akan kembali?” desak Daisy.

"But when is he coming back?" insisted Daisy.

“Maaf, saya tidak tahu.”

"I'm afraid I don't know."

“Tolong sampaikan kepada beliau kalau Daisy Hamilton dan ada keperluan mendesak untuk dibicarakan."

"Will you tell him Daisy Hamilton telephoned and would like to talk to him urgently."

“Baik, ya saya usahakan,” dengan jawaban yang kurang bersemangat.

"Well - yes, I suppose so," was the completely unconcerned reply.

This was the tenth telephone conversation Daisy had had in two weeks with this young woman, but Frank Baccini hadn't got in touch with her yet.

Daisy was furious and decided to go to Mr. Baccini's warehouse to see if he was there.

Sesampainya disana, dia mengetuk pintu kantor.

When she arrived, she knocked on the office door.

“Masuk.”

Mr. Baccini's secretary said in her monotonous voice: "Come in."

“Saya sudah menelpon berkali-kali – nama saya Daisy Hamilton."

"I've telephoned many times - my name is Daisy Hamilton."

“Benarkah? Anda ingin berbicara?” tanya wanita muda itu bahkan tanpa melihat ke arah Daisy.

"Really? Who did you want to speak to?" asked the young woman without even glancing at Daisy.

“Saya ingin berbicara dengan Tuan Baccini,” jawab Daisy.

"I want to speak to Mr. Baccini," replied Daisy.

Bahkan dia menjadi makin agresif.

She was becoming even more aggressive.

“Tampaknya beliau tidak ada di sini,” kata sekretaris itu dengan gayanya yang monoton dan meneruskan majalahnya.

"I'm afraid he's not here," said the secretary in her usual monotonous way and went on reading her magazine.

Daisy shouted "Enough is enough!" and banged the door closed.

Daisy merasa agak tertekan.

Daisy felt rather depressed.

“Aku tahu apa yang akan aku lakukan,” pikirnya, “Aku akan mampir di Luigi dan membeli es krim yang banyak.”

"I know what I'll do," she thought, "I'll stop off at Luigi's for a nice banana split."

Daisy liked sitting in Luigi's ice-cream parlour and having a little chat with the owner, a positive-thinking Italian.

Ketika Daisy berjalan naik tangga kantor dia merasa agak kakinya agak sakit..

As Daisy walked up the stairs to her office she felt a little less sore about human beings.

Just as Daisy was changing her shoes to a more comfortable pair, someone knocked on the door and walked in.

Ada seorang pekerja dengan pakaian terusan.

It was a workman in overalls.

“Permisi nona – apakah Anda Nona Daisy Hamilton? Dimana harus kami letakkan ini semua?” menunjuk ke arah dua kotak besar di atas tanah.

"Excuse me miss - are you Miss Daisy Hamilton? Where shall we put these?" pointing to two large boxes on the landing.

“Ya, saya adalah Daisy Hamilton tapi apa itu, apa yang ada di dalam kotak itu?”

"Yes, I am Daisy Hamilton but what have you got there - what's in those boxes?"

“Kotak yang besar isinya lemari es dan yang kecil mesin pembuat cappuccino. Anda pintar memilih, ini memang yang terbaik.”

"The big one is a fridge and the smaller one is a cappuccino-making machine. You've chosen well, you know, these are the best makes around."

“Saya tidak pernah memesannya,” seru Daisy.

"I haven't ordered either of these," exclaimed Daisy.

“Tapi di sini tertulis nama Anda!” desak si pekerja.

"But it's your name on the delivery note!" insisted the workman.

“Semua sudah dibayar. Katakan dimana saya harus meletakkan semuanya.”

"It's all paid for - just tell me where to put them."

Daisy was just about to refuse the goods when she saw Frank Baccini coming in the door, too.

“Nona Hamilton. Maaf saya belum sempat menghubungi.”

"Miss Hamilton. I'm very sorry I haven't been in touch.

“Saya benar-benar berharap Anda tidak berkeberatan. Saya lihat Anda tidak punya lemari es di kantor Anda….mesin pembuat cappuccino ini memang barang yang mungil.”

"I do hope you don't mind but I had noticed you didn't have a fridge in your office and... this cappuccino-making machine is a little speciality.

“Oh ya, ini cek untuk pekerjaan Anda yang bagus dan sedikit bonus.”

"Oh, by the way here is your cheque for the excellent work you did, with a little extra for your expenses."

Frank Baccini melihat Daisy yang merasa heran, lalu menimpali:

Frank Baccini saw Daisy was astonished and added:

“Sekretaris saya menelpon Anda kan? Saya pergi berbulan madu selama dua minggu.”

"My secretary did phone you, I hope? I've been away for a couple of weeks on honeymoon."

Daisy merasa lega, “Hmm, tidak, tidak, …tapi tidak apa-apa Tuan Baccini!”

Daisy recovered herself, "Well, no, she didn't - but that's quite all right Mr. Baccini!"

VOLUNTEER A TRANSLATION OR AUDIO RECORDING USING THE TEMPLATES PROVIDED HERE!

Lonweb.org has been online since 1997 and it has always managed to remain a not-for-profit website offering all its resources for free. Most Daisy Stories, Arranger Stories and Opal Storiese have been translated by volunteers who just enjoy translating and being useful to people like you who are always on the lookout for good linguistic resources. Would you like to become one of our volunteers? You can start right away following a couple of very simple instructions: when translating the Daisy,  Arranger or Opal Stories as a volunteer, please use the templates provided below and fit your translation into the parallel text slots provided. Before translating, you may check that the story has never been translated before. On the other hand, we love to publish more than one translation for any given story, so feel free to send us a translation of a story which has already been translated if you feel like it! After completion, please send your translation to robertocasiraghi@lonweb.org, it will be published in a matter of days, if not hours. Also, if you like to mention something about yourself (which may amount also to a professional curriculum!) or send us your photograph we'll be more than happy to publish it.

NEW! AUDIO PROGRAM - RECORD YOUR TRANSLATED DAISY/ARRANGER/OPAL STORY IN YOUR OWN LANGUAGE!
Yes, we feel that our resources would really benefit from an audio recording to complement the reading. We do not need a professional voiceover sort of quality, the audio just needs to be understandable and without excessive background noise. So don't be shy and send us your audio readings of the Daisy, Arranger and Opal Stories!
